Here are some key nutrition tips to help you nourish your body and achieve your health goals.

  1. Balance is Key: It is important to have a balanced diet to ensure your body receives all the necessary nutrients. Incorporate a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats (such as nuts, avocados, olive oil and fatty fish) in your meals.

  2. Stay Hydrated: Hydration is crucial for overall health. The Naturopathic reccomendation is to drink 1.5- 2 litres of fluid throughout the day to stay hydrated and support your body's functions. Water, herbal teas, water with slices of fruit (lemon, limes, oranges) or vegetables (cucumber, parsley), Rooibus (or Redbush) tea are all great choices for hydration.

  3. Mindful Eating: Pay attention to your body's hunger and fullness cues. Engage in mindful eating practices to savor your food, recognize when you're satisfied, and avoid overeating. Chew your food slowly and break it down into a mush before swallowing - this covers your food in saliva which contain digestive enzymes such as amylase (starts to breaks down starches) and lipase (starts to breaks down fats) - often when poeple feel very full after eating, they've either eaten too much or have not chewed their food sufficently for the digestive process to work as well as it could.

  4. Choose Whole Foods: Opt for whole, unprocessed foods as much as possible. These foods are rich in essential nutrients and free from unhealthy additives and trans fats. Examples are all vegetable and fruits, wholemeal bread, brown rice, wholemeal pasta, beans, legumes, salad vegetables and nuts. Unpackaged, unprocessed food!

  5. Meal Planning: Planning your meals ahead of time can help you make healthier choices and avoid last-minute unhealthy options. Batch cooking/prep can be super helpful for busy lifestyles.

  6. Listen to Your Body: Every individual is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. Listen to your body's signals and adjust your diet accordingly to support your health goals.
